What is Unit Cold Storage?

Unit Cold Storages are smaller refrigerated and freezer warehouse spaces designed to accommodate small to mid size companies who require flexibility, convenience, speed, control and fixed costs to better run and grow their business.

Where are Unit Cold Storages located?

Unit's first three markets will be in the Houston, Boston and South Florida markets. Additional markets are currently under consideration.

What temperature ranges can Unit Cold Storage accommodate?

Units are customizable temperature-controlled spaces ranging from −15°F to 55°F, ideal for frozen, refrigerated, or chilled products.

What types of products can be stored in a Unit facility?

Your Unit storage is ideal for perishable goods including fruit and produce, seafood, meat, poultry, pharmaceuticals, pet food, beverages, ingredients, floral and other temperature-sensitive items.

How big is a Unit Cold Storage?

Each Unit space is 7,200 sq. ft. with a 4,400 sq. ft. freezer/cooler that can hold upwards of 450-500 pallets each.

Is there a mezzanine or dry storage available?

Yes, each Unit incorporates a 600 sq. ft. refrigerated mezzanine space ideal for packaging, kitting, boxing, re-pack or supplies.

Can I access my Unit at any time?

Clients have 24/7/365 access to their Units for ultimate flexibility and operational control.

Logistics & operations

Do Unit Cold facilities have refrigerated loading docks?

Yes, each Unit is designed with a 1,600 sq. ft. loading dock accessed by 2 electric dock high doors and powered levelers for seamless inbound and outbound logistics.

Does a Unit Cold space support cross-docking and order consolidation?

Absolutely. Unit Cold spaces are designed to support cross-docking, order picking, and consolidation services to streamline distribution.

Does Unit offer transportation or distribution services?

Unit Cold is designed for the owner operator in mind. Upon request, we will provide to users a comprehensive list of professional references in the refrigeration transportation field.

Is there parking for trucks, trailers, and chassis?

Yes, each Unit property was designed to allow you to properly run your business, with accommodation for transportation vehicles, employees, and visitors in mind.

Value-added services

Do you provide repacking, labeling, or light processing services?

Unit Cold management can provide a comprehensive list of third party value added warehouse services companies to perform pick/pack, repacking, relabeling, and light processing to meet diverse operational needs.

Can I manage my inventory or check availability online?

Unit Cold will offer Warehouse Management Software guidance as part of our onboarding process with potential users.

Is administrative or office space available onsite?

Yes, each Unit Cold is outfitted with a 600 sq. ft. office space for tenants who require onsite admin support or want to manage operations directly from the facility.

Security & compliance

What security measures are in place?

The exterior of Unit facilities are equipped with 24/7 surveillance with controlled access. Tenants may customize their Unit space with additional security controls, cameras, and controlled access as desired.

Are your facilities FDA or USDA compliant?

Yes, each Unit Cold facility will be built to modern food-safety requirements. Tenant operators would be required to maintain any specific food safety criteria in their space.

How do you ensure temperature integrity?

Unit Cold refrigeration systems have been designed by Unit Cold Storage and Preferred Freezer Services founder and pioneer, John Galiher, a leader in refrigeration systems and facility design. Each Unit Cold space is designed to run efficiently and independently of other Unit spaces. Each system will be centrally monitored and serviced and maintained monthly by leading refrigeration services companies.
